This ceramic cheeseplate is an excellent way to serve those special (and sometimes messy) cheeses. The plate is handmade of earthenware clay and is approximately 7 1/8” in diameter. The plate sits on three short feet which make it about 3/4” high. The edge of the plate is decorated with a ring of incised leaves.
Each cheesplate is hand cast and assembled, bisque fired, glazed and then fired again. All the glazes I use are food safe and you can either hand wash the plate or put it in the dishwasher. The plate is glazed on both sides and you'll see an FRC (Far Ridge Ceramics) stamp and a Handmade in Virginia stamp on the bottom.
This cheeseplate is glazed with a translucent lustre green glaze which does a wonderful job of accenting the leaf design. It's a great color and complements any cheese, though it is especially nice with a good a gorgonzola or Stilton.
Setting out three or four cheeses each on their own plate makes for a nice presentation. Check my other listings for plates in different colors. They also make the perfect gift for cheese lovers and are a great addition to a gourmet food gift basket.
