Magical autumn woods, touched by frost and mystery, beckon from this lovely Victorian illustration c. 1840-1860 by an anonymous artist.
The original black-and-white engraving is long out of copyright and in the public domain. I've remixed it with a modern twist by digitally hand-painting it, which took me around 8-10 hours.
And to complement the enchanting imagery, I've incorporated a quotation from the beautiful 1886 poem The Stolen Child by William Butler Yeats: "Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild..."
This pretty print is perfect for the 21st-century lover of 19th-century art and poetry. It would look wonderful on the wall of a neo-Victorian parlor, romantic boudoir, or steampunk study.
