The boned, structured bodice has a pointed front, a pointed V neckline, and deeply pointed back. It laces up center back with cream ribbon through silver eyelets, and a modesty panel spans the gap. This lacing allows for a bit of flexibility in size, and the gown is constructed sturdily enough that it can achieve a little bit of waist reduction and shaping. The bodice is trimmed with elegant swags of ivory silk chiffon, tiny strands of faux pearls (vintage, from Japan), and a handmade matching silk flower with a spray of pearls and two green leaves.
The separate skirt is trained slightly, which would allow for a small bustle if you want that 1880's silhouette. As pictured, the gown is worn over a bustle-era petticoat with a bit of ruffle down the back. The skirt is flat-lined in cotton, giving weight and structure to the silk. The skirt closes at the side back, under the pleats, with hooks and snaps.
Note: Petticoat is not included, but it is highly recommended that this gown is worn with one.
This finished and ready to ship sample garment is approx. a size small. When laced fully closed, the costume itself measures:
Waist 25" (skirt waistband 25.5")
Hip: up to 38"
Waist to hem front: 39.5"
Waist to hem back: approx. 46"
