They are named "diamonds" because they are harder than most other varieties of quartz crystals, their formations (short, small, stuby and double-terminated) and glossy surfaces make them superficially resemble diamonds. The color of Herkimer Diamonds ranges from totally clear, to clear with some beautiful black carbon deposits.
The properties of Herkimer Diamonds include the abilities to enhance and clarify dreams and visions, facilitate purification, and spiritualize the physical life of those who wear or hold them.
