240 unlined pages (front / back) = 6 registers with 10 folded sheets each.
Spine Length: 5.5 inches (14.1 cm)
Cover Width: 4.25 inches (10.8 cm)
Thickness: .98 inches (2.5 cm)
Numbered: Series 1, Book 4
Materials: Bookboard, Lokta archival handmade paper, permanent archival ink, unlined bright white 70 lb text paper, and several feet of hand-waxed linen binding thread hand-dyed with roasted grains.
This journal is the fourth in a series of original print covers on luscious Lokta paper (from Nepal). For this particular cover I made a linocut of a spiral tree. The entirety of the front and back cover were first covered with crimson red Lokta paper. Then I printed the spiral tree on a rectangle of hand-torn denim blue Lokta paper and added it to the cover. The pages are hand-cut, rounded corners, with hand-dyed 'cream' color bookbinders thread. The Coptic style of stitch allows the book to open up flat, which is fantastic for writing and sketching! The paper is appropriate for both pencil and ink.
