Materials: Bookboard, Lokta archival handmade paper, permanent archival ink, unlined bright white 70 lb text paper, and several feet of hand-waxed linen binding thread hand-dyed with roasted grains, and a snippet of text from a novel.
This journal is the fifth in a series of original print covers on luscious Lokta paper (from Nepal). On this particular cover I used two linocuts I made in October 2011 (spirally frame with flowers, and a heart pen) on a rectangle of cream Lokta paper. The entirety of the front and back cover were first covered with bright turquoise Lokta paper. The pages are hand-cut, rounded corners, with bookbinders thread hand-dyed (by me) with roasted grains. The Coptic style of stitch allows the book to open up flat, which is fantastic for writing and sketching!
