Created with an artist's needs in mind, this medium-sized sketchbook is leather-bound and filled with acid-free, 98-lb. (160g) paper. There are 96 sheets (192 pages, front and back) of hand-torn paper bound directly to the leather with waxed, black linen thread. The paper is perfect for acrylics, watercolors, pen, and pencil. Each signature is covered with brightly colored decorative papers. A small, leather belt with a brass buckle keeps the book closed. The design on the cover is a free-hand drawing of my own, loosely based on 18th century floral designs.
The wrap closure of the book will allow for some expansion, should you choose to paste anything to the pages or stitch in additional pages. The leather is water-resistant and will protect your precious pages from a spill, and it also makes the journal very flexible. Spine lays flat when open, making it easy to write into and across the margins.
The leather used in this journal is antique and unfinished. If leather becomes soiled, use a dry toothbrush to clean. If leather becomes wet, allow to dry away from any source of direct heat.
Journal measures 5.5" x 3.75" x 1.625" (14cm x 9.5cm x 4cm).
