This cardigan hoodie will add just the right touch of whimsy to your day! The base is a zippy cardigan of the most beautiful blue wool blend infused with flecks of tan, brown and dark aqua blue. The soft elf sleeves and a dramatic elf hood are echos of those flecks, and the cream really makes it all pop! The result is this lovely, snuggly creation that you'll never want to take off!

The hood brim is stuffed to provide more structure for the hood when it's up, and falls fetchingly across the shoulders when down. The sleeves are slightly flared, and feature a thumbhole if you choose to use it. It's got cute little patchwork pockets in front which are lined in tan felt for extra strength, and which really bring the whole elf sweater together. I love the natural shades of this cute little hoodie!

The cardigan sweater is thick and its former life, it was made by Croft & Barrow and was sized "Medium". When lying flat, it measures 18" from underarm to underarm (about 36" around), and 16 1/2" at the bottom of the ribbed hem (about 33" around). For visual reference, I'm 5'3" with a 36" bust and 27" waist.

The patchwork pieces are mostly wool. This elven hoodie is made entirely of sweaters and knits that have been rescued from thrift stores, so they have now been given a second chance at life...kind of like nice, soft, gorgeous zombies ;-) But seriously, when you purchase this hoodie, you are reducing waste that the environment would otherwise have to contend with, so how cool is that?

I've been making Renaissance clothing for several years, and I find that making these elven creations is really much more exciting than hand-sewing eyelets on a bodice (although dressing for Faire is also tons of fun)! I strive to make quality garments which will last for years, so I double-check all my seams and hand-sew in all of the thread ends, because, really, who wants to think of tying up loose ends when wearing an awesome coat like this one? ;-)

I am quite analytical by nature, and I am happiest when things are symmetrical and uniform, so I use my measuring tools, my dress form, and my straight pins quite liberally when creating my designs. Although I employ all of these techniques, my creations are still hand-crafted, and will definitely have "personality". Be prepared to stand out from the crowd in an Intricate Simplicity design! :-D
