An original watercolour painting signed by me, the artist.
1931 was a horrifying year for America. The economic collapse that had begun in 1929 had hit bottom, and with it went the hopes and dreams of most Americans. The fear in America was almost palpable during this darkest year of the Great Depression, which set the stage nicely for the horror that Hollywood was about to unleash. 1931 was the year in which four of cinema’s iconographic monsters would lurk into the picture houses and minds of an already very scared public. One of these monster movies to be released, and my favourite, was Universal’s film based on the Mary Shelley novel, Frankenstein.
Painted on 140lb acid free watercolour paper (cold pressed).
Measures 9x12 inches or 22.9x30.5 centimeters.
A dollar from this painting will go to support the Kingston Animal Rescue: a volunteer-run, “no-kill” animal rescue group. They rescue and find forever homes for animals in need. Good people.
