My interpretation of ‘TBC’ in this painting was ‘tuberculosis’. TBC is an abbreviation for the disease. My grandfather was a doctor and used to work in a TB ward during WW2. There are aspects in this painting that pay homage to my memories of him, but I also wanted to show the disease from a microscopic/biological/scientific point of view, breaking it down to the bacterial level.
