Black sequined net evening gown, c. 1910
From kickshaw
Black cotton net dress with sequins worked in floral pattern. Black silk petticoat and lining. Bust about 38+, waist 28 max, hips 40+ inches. All over good condition but there are some hanging sequins, damage to netting under arms (from sequins catching) and some small tears in the silk petticoat but the petticoat is not tin-salt weighted, so it can be fixed. I think this was a dress from about 1908 and it was altered in about 1910-12 by reducing the pouching at the front of the bodice and raising the waistline a bit. It is wearable as is, but would benefit from a bit of work - tightening sequins, darning holes in petticoat etc. Existing damage is not noticeable except on inspection because the dress is so busy in pattern. With black gloves and a fan, this dress could work well for a Titanic event.
