The enchantress's tower stood at the edge of the city, surrounded by a high stone wall covered in thorny rose bushes. Most of the bushes bloomed in normal colors -- reds, pinks and yellows quite at odds with their mistress's dark reputation. But the bushes flanking the iron gate were different. They only flowered at midnight, bursting forth with roses darker than the night's sky, filling the air with their venomous perfume...
