This handmade shield measures 15 3/8" in diameter with a solid wood core for added strength. The hand carved image of a Celtic Knot imparts bravery and smarts to whomever holds the shield. The perimeter is rimmed in metal domed studs. On the back, a handle made from a hardy piece of leather is kept in place by two copper rivets that go completely through the shield.
This sword and dagger are made entirely of leather (these are NOT wooden). Leather is a great material because it acts like a cushion to absorb the blows from hours of active play and it will still hold itself together. They will not break, splinter, or fall apart in pieces as does plastic, wood, or foam.
From tip to tail, the sword measures 20 1/2" and the dagger measures 14 1/2". The cross bars have an image of a Celtic Knot on them. Laminated between two thick pieces of leather is a stiffening rod that allows both the sword and dagger to flex, but not break. The handles have been wrapped in leather for a solid, secure grip. All the edges are blunt and cannot be made into a sharp edge.
The holster is a wonderful companion piece. As your little soldier walks around inspecting the troops, or just eating lunch, his / her weapon is securely in place ready to be drawn at a moments notice. The holster has a leather belt measuring 32-35" long and is easily adjustable to go either around the shoulder or the waist, depending on the height of your child(ren).
This is a great armour set for any little Saxon. It is meant to be used for creative play and reenactment, enjoyed for years to come. The more it is used, exposed to sun, dirt, and fun, the more the leather will patina with rich colour tones. Let your child(ren) enjoy their fantasy (while being protected in style) with something they will be able to pass onto their kids many... many years from now.
Please SPECIFY what color handles you would like (red, light brown, turquoise, royal blue, pink). If a color is not listed, then you will receive red handles.
