Old World Santa is made from a knit fabric like craft velour or doesuede. With a little balancing, he can stand alone. His face is needle sculpted. Ears are optional, and are sewn, stuffed, and attached to the head. Facial features are painted in acrylics and shaded/highlighted with colored pencils. His eyebrows are embroidered (or needle felted). Hair is chenille upholerstery trim glued in place, or needle felted loose wool locks. Chenille stems provide armature (and stuffing) for his fingers. His hooded cloak is reversible. Costuming includes patterns for a long tunic and shorter version with pants. Shoes are felt.
While this is a pattern for a Father Christmas type character, the pattern may also be used to make other characters.
