Larimar, Citrine and Sterling Silver Pendant plarj1932

Larimar, Citrine and Sterling Silver Pendant, 22.8mm x 42.18mm. This is a one of a kind (ooak) art piece. I hand forged the silver to show the stone to its best advantage and included an lemon citrine accent stone. I personally cut many of the gemstones I use in my jewelry, but in this case this is a stone I acquired in a trade with my mentor; the man who taught me how to cut cabochons.
Larimar is an opaque stone in pleasing patterns of blue and greenish blue similar to the color of the ocean in tropical climates. Larimar was named by a Dominican for LARIssa his daughter and MAR the Spanish word for sea. Larimar came on the market in the1970's and has to date only been found in the Dominican Republic.
