Mama and her girls is embroidered in hand dyed blues, aquas, lavenders and grays on beautiful homespun linen that is between 100-120 years old. The porcelain doll arms are from Germany and were dug from the earth from the grounds of an old doll factory that operated between 1890-1920. It is framed in a reclaimed barn wood frame made for me by Jim who runs the Etsy shop barnwood4u that measures 8 inches square and is 2 inches deep. The piece is backed with wool felt and is signed and dated on the back.
If you'd like to read more about the history of the linen you can check out my blog post about it here: http://marysgranddaughter.blogspot.com/2009/06/look-what-i-found.html
