I started getting my work cast in brass a couple of years ago… I love the detail I can achieve in metal. They're solid brass and have a surprising weight to them.
This is the smaller of the two brass tree frogs I make. It measures 7cm across and 3.8cm high, the photo with the coins gives you an idea of size. The colouring is by patination, using heat and chemicals. By the nature of the process some variation occurs, the photos show typical results.
* LET ME KNOW WHICH OF THE NUMBERED ONES YOU PREFER * I'll endeavour to send you that one. If it gets sold before I can change the listing I'll send one like it.
These tree frogs have a hole in the back to hang up on a small nail or screw. They look just as good sitting there looking up at you. If they're staying indoors I'd put a bit of blu-tack in the hole to make them less likely to get knocked off. They're fine to go outside, but I'd recommend an adhesive in the hole, such as araldite, to stick them to the nail head.
* LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT THIS IN A GIFT BOX * I usually do gift box them, I've had some really nice, black boxes made. It'll be in a postal box anyway, so if it's not a gift no point sending extra packaging to throw away.
I’ve included ‘Bronze’ in the list of tags, I think it’s worth having a look at this piece. Many of the ‘Bronzes’ out there are actually brass. I’d rather be straight up about it. It makes no difference to a sculpture of this size, there is no perceivable difference. The casting and patination process are exactly the same.
Postage in the UK is first class. Things I've sent to the USA seem to take a couple of weeks. If you want to buy several items get in touch, I’ll be able to reduce the postage cost.
