Fire-engine red and black / charcoal / navy blue lace patterns run the length of this unique silk chiffon scarf, leaving the white background for contrast. Black is a very difficult color to achieve in fabric dyes, and I mixed three different colors to get the blackest black I could. I feel it wants to be navy blue, but it depends upon the lighting. Feminine details in power colors are equally effective with a business suit or a cocktail dress.

The design brings to mind my immigrant ancestors crossing the ocean with such great hopes for a new life in the United States of America. There's something patriotically antique about this design!
