A necklace inspired by antique Bavarian hunting trophy brooches and pins. The foot is permanently preserved and will remain unchanged indefinitely when cared for properly. Grouse are sturdy birds native to cooler climates. Their feet have evolved unique "frills" or "combs" along the outside edges of their toes to allow them to walk through deep snow without sinking – just like a pair of snowshoes. Unlike most birds that have naked legs, grouse have feathers all the way down to their feet in order to keep their legs warm. Their heavily feathered legs give grouse feet a raptor-like appearance. Strung on black satin cord (25") with chrome foot-cap and hardware. Please note: I have several of these right now, they're all virtually identical, but you may or may not receive the one used for the photo.
As with everything I sell, no animals were killed for the purpose of creating the items I offer. I only use animal materials that would otherwise be thrown away. I believe wasting any part of an animal is disrespectful to Mother Nature, so I recycle every single piece I possibly can.
