Royal Worcester was established in 1751, by Dr. John Wall and a group of local businessman with the goal to establish a porcelain manufactory. From the beginning great emphasis was places on superb craftsmanship. Even after 260 years as one historian said,"Worcester is one of the few enterprises where the traditional craftsmanship of the eighteenth century survives".
This covered casserole measures 5 1/2" across, 2 1/2" tall and holds 1 1/2 pints or 3 cups. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing.This pattern Evesham Gold, was launched in 1961 featuring autumnal fruits and all brought together with the 22 carat gold trim in the outside of the top and handles on the casserole dish.
Looking back at history and learning from our past we can only hope more things survive to be able to past on lovely things to the next generations.
