Published in 1893
Four different stencils printed on two sheets of paper.
Stencils 93, 94, 95 & 96.
These stencil patterns are pages taken from the first edition of a book of Japanese facsimile stencils published in 1893. The paper is very brittle and damaged at the edges, as seen in the scan, and is blank on the reverse. Each stencil is printed in dense black ink on cream paper. The pattern is a reversal of how it would appear if the design were used for printing.
Although care should be taken when handling this antique paper, once framed it would look wonderful. The ink is attractively dark. As with all prints, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
