Stunning wall quilt is made from silk dupioni (doop-ee-on'-ee) imported from India. I've been collecting these luxurious silks for 5 years in New York City's garment district. Silk is harder to work with than cotton, and it's more expensive than cotton, but I think the rich vibrant colors are worth it.

This quilt features many "shot" silks, which have a warp of one color and a weave of another color. When you arrange the fabric in multiple directions in a quilt, the color appears different. In Photo #4 the lower gold triangle is made from chartreuse and black. Change the angle and it looks lighter than the nearby gold triangles. Yes, this is very cool.

Improvisational piecing means the intersections are not all exactly lined up. Some are, some aren't. This adds charm. Quilt measures 33" wide x 35" long.

Hand embroidered (1/4" big-stitch) with black Pearle cotton thread from Romania. You can see the stitches a little bit in Photo #2, but even better on the back of the quilt Photo #3. The quilting is subtle, letting the colors and piecing do most of the work in this quilt.

The batting inside is cotton, and the mustard-colored backing fabric is cotton. The 1/4" silk binding is neatly hand-sewn on the back. Quality workmanship. I've been quilting since 1966.

This quilt is new and smooth. A silk quilt is more art than blanket, so it's not to be washed. Shake gently to remove dust, or spot clean with a damp cloth. My home is smoke free and pet free.

Silk quilts will last a long time, for generations. You may have seen antique silk quilts that are wearing out. That's because in the 1800's women liked their silk dresses to rustle when they walked. Metals were added to the silk to make it rustle. Quilts were made using the dressmaker's scraps. The silks in this quilt are new and don't have these metals in them.

This quilt has a hanging sleeve on the back, along the top of the quilt. If you want to hang your quilt, simply insert a straight curtain rod (or a dowel) into this tube. Put two nails in the wall that protrude about an inch, then place the rod on the nails. Your quilt will hang nice and flat and straight. You can see this sleeve in Photo #3. Aim a spotlight or put a lamp nearby for fabulous effect!

All of my quilts are signed and dated with a label on the back. If you would also like a custom label, just write your text in the special instructions box when you check out and I'll attach a label to the back for you. (For example: "Congratulations Mary and Jack! Love, Mom and Dad 2012") Giftwrap available. Both complimentary.

If you're not satisfied, just notify me within 30 days and return it for a full refund. I want you to be delighted with your quilt.
