These pointy hats are perfect for keeping little heads and ears warm. I made my first hat like this for my son's first birthday. He was always pulling hats off his head, and I was worried about him staying warm during outdoor play in winter. I made him a pointy hat just like this one, in navy blue. It ties around the chin and stays on -he can't take it off, and forgets it's there in a minute or two. It keeps him warm, and he looks adorable!
Each of these hats are made of recycled 100% wool felt -soft, warm, and stretchy, with a recycled t-shirt lining and ties. Size 6 to 18 months (head circumference 16"-19", hat height 6-7"). Please make sure your child is within these measurements. To check hat height, measure from the jawline just under the earlobe straight up to the very top of the head. If you have any questions, please message me.
Wool felt resists stains and water, is very warm, and is a very practical choice for outerwear.
Hand wash in cool water with wool-friendly detergent such as Woolite. Air dry flat.
Did you know that the U.S. has so much good-quality used clothing that "even developing countries are now refusing the bales of semi-used clothing coming from the U.S. because there's nowhere to put it"?
Did you know that the thrift shop industry holds 10 pounds of post-consumer textile waste (anything made of fabric) for every person in the United States?
Did you know that "the world supply of used women's clothing is at least seven times that of men's"?
When I read these statistics in the article cited below, I decided to try my best to use only thrifted fabrics for my sewing projects. There is so much great fabric out there in the form of unwanted clothes and linens. Finding and sewing with them is an exercise in creativity, sustainability, and thrift. I hope you enjoy my creations.
