Do you stay up late writing or write about what you stayed up late doing?
This journal is the tenth in a series of original print covers on luscious Lokta paper (from Nepal). On this particular cover I used a linocut of an owl on a branch - carved in November 2011. The entirety of the front and back cover were first covered with a teal Lokta paper. I printed the owl onto a rectangle of hand-torn cream Lokta paper and affixed it to the front cover. The text at the bottom sits on a blue branch of Lokta paper which wraps around to the inside and reads "I have sat up late at night." There are also a few little prints on the inside covers. The pages are hand-cut, with rounded corners, and bookbinders thread hand-dyed with roasted grains.. The Coptic style of stitch allows the book to open up flat, which is fantastic for writing and sketching!
