If I had to describe my creative style, I’d have to say “Post-apocalyptic Renaissance.” I imagine my art fitting into a time when a fictitious worst has happened, when the zombies stop roaming or the teddy-bear hoard has been vanquished, and the creation of beautiful things becomes possible again. I’ve always been fascinated by that time of recovery, when the lack of infrastructure leads to the reuse of existing things. From the dwellers below on the old Beauty and the Beast TV show, to Tina Turner’s chain mail and wire dress in Beyond Tunderdome, that scrounging, inventive, resilient spirit has inspired me. When I discovered Katwise and her upcycled sweater coats, the look and feel resonated with me and motivated me to try my own ideas, to explore the medium and develop my own styles. I’m grateful to her and to Etsy for giving me an audience and a market.
Custom order policy: I do not do custom orders, due to how tricky it is to get the right sweaters in the right quantities here in Texas. However, if there is something you’re looking for, I love to work with clients and hear what they’re interested in seeing in my shop, and if at all possible I’ll try to get an item in the size/color/style moved up in my to-do pile, and give the requestor the right of first refusal when it’s done.
