Recently I have noticed simililar items...however, they are not old, and, therefore lack the finesse, charm, and the extreme details of this Porcelain Statue.
This is an Amazing Porcelain piece I picked up at an ANTIQUE SHOW in the Chicago Land Area. The dealer said he bought it at an Estate Sale that featured most items from the 1950's. It is so delicate, I was afraid to bring it home.
Blanc de Chine is a French term that means “the white of China.” Appearing in the Song Dynasty around 960, it is a porcelain that has been a favorite among the Chinese culture for hundreds of years.
Blanc de Chine’s beautiful white color resembles ivory, and is a very important color in Chinese culture. It stands for purity, and also the color of mourning. Many intricate and beautiful statues have been sculpted from this porcelain to resemble Gods of the Buddhist faith.
