This 4oz Batt Bites is in the Birches colorway that has the colors of a birch tree in winter with dark and light browns, and whites. These are all the fibers that I use when I make my Birches Batts. They are merino, alpaca, silk, cormo, wensleydale, wool, silk noil, firestar, bamboo rayon. I think you will really enjoy working with these fibers. I find them to be next to skin soft but for someone very sensitive maybe outter wear. I hope you enjoy working with these fibers as much as I enjoyed putting them together! My Batt Bites are great for feeding your drum carder, felting them into fiber art projects or even spinning right from the fluff. Batt bites have no calories so what ever you do please do have fun!

The last photo shows an example of a Birches batt that I made using these same ingredients. It is not included in the sale, it is just to show you what you can card up with these fibers. Of course the way I layered my batt is only one way of endless possibilities so yours may turn out differently but I am sure it will still be a lot of fun!

My batts bites take a bit of work but I believe the end results are worth it! I typically dye my own fleece, rovings, silk, bamboo, and firestar in the colors that I want to make my batts in. After the normal dyeing process (soak, dye, set, cool, wash, rinse, dry) I am ready to start making my batts. I choose the look I want to go for and then I measure out my batt ingredients. I pick the roving and fleece open the same way I would if I was going to be carding these myself so you will get a nicely picked bag of fluffy batt bites. Normally my next step would be to start carding my ingredients but since I am just putting together the batt bites for you to card this is where I take photos and bag them up. In some cases I first precard the colors separately in order to nicely blend the roving, firestar, and angelina (or any other add ins) for you. This process takes a bit but I have had some wonderful feedback about my batts so you will enjoy making your batts too. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy them!

I found the fluff to be a bit difficult to photo the true color so I have tried to describe it as best as I can. Please understand that monitors differ as well and the color that you see may not be the color that I see on mine. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask and I will answer them to the best of my abilities!

Some of the wool in the batt bites will felt so I recommend washing your finished project by hand in cool water and lay flat to dry unless felting is your desired effect. These will make soft felted projects too. These are all hand dyed by me with professional acid based dyes. Also though I do my best to wash and rinse all dye out of my roving you may find that when you spin it up and wash it there is a small amount of color leakage. This is normal and should only happen the first few times if that.

I happily take custom orders. Thank you for visiting my shop. shop.
