Inspired by the Kushiel's Legacy series of books by Jacqueline Carey. Specifically, the guise of the Sun Prince, which Sidonie dons in "Kushiel's Justice".
"The Winter Queen appears as an old woman clad in rags, stooped and hobbling with a cane. The Sun Prince, a young man clad all in gold, enters when the horologist calls the hour of the sun's return and all the lights are extinguished. The Sun Prince taps the Winter Queen with his spear and she discards her rags, appearing as a young woman."
This mask is carved from 8 oz leather and painted with acrylic paints. Even the feathers are carved leather. All parts are then sealed with Satin Liquitex varnish and the centerpiece accented with Swarovski crystal cabochons. The mask is affixed the face with elastic cord, which is adjusted by tightening or loosening the knot at the suitable length.
Signed and dated by the artist on the back.
