Materials: Bookboard, Lokta archival handmade paper, permanent archival ink, unlined bright white 70 lb text weight paper, and several feet of hand-dyed linen binding thread, eyelets, and a snippet of text from a novel.
This journal is the twelfth in a series of original print covers on luscious Lokta paper (from Nepal). On this particular cover I used a linocut of a bird on a branch - carved in October 2011. The entirety of the front and back cover were first covered with a bright turquoise Lokta paper. I printed the bird onto a rectangle of hand-torn cream Lokta paper and affixed it to the front cover. The text at the bottom sits on a turquoise bit of Lokta paper layered on a brown bit of Lokta paper and reads "Perhaps at that very moment". There are also a few little prints on the inside covers, and a tiny pocket in the back. The pages are hand-cut, with rounded corners, and bookbinders thread hand-dyed bright pink. The Coptic style of stitch allows the book to open up flat, which is fantastic for writing and sketching!
