A collection of 14 wooden letterpress letters of different fonts & sizes making "MERRY CHRISTMAS".
These antique letters were used for printing in letterpress. The compilation has alphabets of two different heights. The letters in the word "MERRY" measure approx. 33 mm (1.29 inch) in height and 30 mm (1.18 inch) for the widest. The alphabets in the word "CHRISTMAS" measure approx. 34 mm (1.33 inch) in height and 25 mm (0.98 inch) for the widest. The blocks have been cleaned to remove dust and dirt while making great effort to still retain their ink stains / patina. The composition have blocks which are with varying degree of usage. These may be from unused / rarely used to regular used and likewise have varying levels of wear & tear, ink staining & patina. In india most of the blocks were hand crafted therefore the base may be rough with nicks & cuts as the result of the making process which adds to their vintage appeal. When lined together, the 5 blocks in the word "MERRY" measure approx. 132 mm (5.19 inch) and the 9 blocks in the word "CHRISTMAS" measure approx. 170 mm or 6.7 inch.
The blocks are not joined together. These have been placed in different fashion just to give an idea for display. The image on square matrix is to give you an idea of size of the blocks. Each square measures 1 inch x 1 inch.
