I have made these quite thick by sandwiching a piece of the same wool inside two triangles and stitching them together by hand with grey thread around the edges.
These are soft, semi-felted wool. I cut the triangles so that the tips have some of the lighter shade of grey that featured on the arm of the garment. The white embroidered dashes of 'snow' roughly cover the lighter shaded area.

Featuring:
* Wool salvaged from a sweater (80% lamswool, 20% nylon - the synthetic content isn't obvious though) Whoever owned it last put it in a boil wash and it shrank and partly felted.
* New wool yarn
* Metal brooch pin sewn securely to the back with wool yarn. The pins run vertically with the hinge at the bottom
