This charming piece has nicely carved wood leaves and vines, with two birds at he top.
DATE: early 1900s
MEASUREMENTS:
length: 21"
width: 16"
depth: 3/4"
mirror: 10" X 8"
CONDITION: Good. It has been recently glued on two seams at the top, where it separated due to age. The mirror shows some age defects, but is not chipped or cracked.
PS: The photos don't really do the mirror much justice, it is not as bad as it looks! No cracks or chips, just that discoloration on the back side along the edges, common to old mirrors.

INFO:
This piece is in the BLACK FORREST style, most often handcrafted in the small villages of a region in Germany, but also crafted by immigrants to the United States from that region. Some pieces were crafted in Sweden and the Netherlands. Many fine memorable examples of this style include the traditional Cuckoo Clocks. The focus of these folk art pieces was entirely on nature and animals.
