This painting is on a 1/2 inch panel, but still comes with a hanging wire on the back and a varnished surface, so it is ready to hang out of the shipping box. Much like a lot of our recent beer paintings, this one is a bit more painterly than our past work (see detail shot).
You may notice this piece is a bit cheaper than our other beer-inspired oil paintings on canvas. This is due to the fact that building and stretching canvases is very time consuming and working on panel, while size-limited, allows us to focus just on the painting,
About our oil paintings:
While these larger-than-life oil paintings approach photorealism, we feel that they possess a physicality that a photo simply does not. The transparent, permeable layers of color work in conjunction with impermeable, visceral strokes of paint to create a light-reactive, dimensional surface.
"Because the objects of a still life are ordinary -- a sausage, a melon, a bowl, a boot -- their translation into paint intensifies them. They are dignified by the metamorphosis we call art." - Siri Hustvedt - "Mysteries of the Rectangle"
