This gorgeous oxidized art nouveau style lotus pendant is made from antique copper plating and measures 17mm from the loop to the bottom, and 8mm wide. It's accompanied by pink and blue mystic quartz AND tiny 2mm peridot rounds on each side. The copper lobster claw clasp also has these gems on each side of it: one peridot, and one each of the quartz in pink and blue. It is all strung on a 18inch copper cable chain.
The earrings are dainty yet substantial in length: the wire wrapped multi gemstone dangle is 23mm and the total earring hangs about 1 1/2 inches. I LOVE the spiral leaf detail on the end of the earring dangle. Sweet and pretty!
Copper jewelry is under utilized and worn in my opinion because of a false stigma attached to it. A lot of people are under the impression that copper will turn your skin black or green. To a certain limited extent this is true. This usually happens with copper that is worn tightly against the skin, and there is no air flow causing condensation between the metal and your skin (a tight ring or tight form fitting cuff bracelet).
I have been told a great practice when wearing copper jewelry is to wipe down the jewelry with a damp cloth or paper towel after wear, then dry completely. This removes your body's oil and natural chemicals from the metal. Copper should not be worn 24 hrs a day as earrings, this will cause your ear piercing to blacken from said body oils and natural chemicals.
