Your custom axolotl will end up looking very similar to the ones you see in the photos, but not quite the same (especially if you want him in a different color). Everything I make is one of a kind, because replicating is boring!
Your axolotl will be needle felted entirely out of hand-dyed wool with no wire armature, and about 7" long (17.75 cm) and 2" tall (5 cm). Contains glass eye beads, so do not give it to a small child who is likely to eat them. His tail fin will be made of flexible, translucent Lumina clay. Hardly weighs anything; you could wear him on your shoulder, use him as a holiday decoration, or just have him around for company. If you let me know in a note, you can even have me attach a brooch so you can wear him on your coat!
The axolotl is, in fact, a salamander in a larval stage. The difference is that axolotls reach sexual maturity at this stage, and never really go past it, a property called neoteny. They also have amazing regenerative abilities; they can regenerate whole limbs in a few months, and even parts of vital organs, including the brain.
