This listing is for two 2-ply skeins, weighing 8.5 oz., spun at an average of 1300 ypp (yards per pound), a DK weight. These 690 yards wrap at approximately 12-14. One strand of the ply is BFL wool, and the other is Corriedale wool.
BFL is a “multipurpose” sheep breed dating back from the early 1900’s. The ewes produce “litters” of three or four lambs with long loins. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. Fortunately, they also have a beautifully soft, long wool that is especially easy to spin, so they are raised to maturity for their lustrous fleeces.
Corriedale is a sheep breed that was developed during the industrial revolution for the sweater trade. They needed a fiber that was a little longer than Merino for the machines, so they crossed Merino with the long-haired Lincoln to produce a new breed: Corriedale.
See my Store Policy FAQs section for further knitting gauge suggestions for various yard weights and care instructions for different fibers.
My skeins are wound on a full 2-yard niddy-noddy. If you don’t have a large swift, let me know. Spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
