My Elijah's Cup has an irregular edge. Tradition has it the Prophet Elijah didn't die, rather he ascended to heaven in a fiery chariot in 718 BCE. The edge of the representative cup mimics both the flames of fire and the clouds in the heavens.
Miriam's Cup is decorated with charms shaped like timbrels (ancient tambourines). "And Miriam the prophetess, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her, with timbrels and with dances." When you lift the glass, the timbrels strike the cup, making a musical sound.
NOTE: The chain around the Miriam's cup might shift. You can gently even it out by pulling gently. The ends of the chain are attached using cotton thread, which is strong enough for everyday use, but might not hold up under a strong yank.
Elijah's Cup is dishwasher safe. Miriam's Cup, since it only holds water, should just be poured out and allowed to dry.
