The ring dates to the mid-19th Century, c1860, and holds the most gorgeous three genuine Australian Opal gemstones. Each is a genuine opal, not a doublet or triplet, and display gorgeous colors of peacock green, fire red, and even some blue violet tones. The center stone is about 4mm in diameter and they are free from chips and cracks. The stones are all beautifully set in their original 14K Gold setting with beautiful original Victorian details on the sides and Etruscan granulation at the two tips of the opals. The Victorians revived the process of Ancient Etruscan gold in their own gorgeous hand detailed pieces. Original examples such as this ring are rapidly disappearing from the open market. Overall it is about ½ inch long by about 5/8 inch wide and is in beautiful estate condition. This piece came from a lovely estate collection with jewelry spanning several generations.Ring Size: Approximately 3 3/4 (this ring could be easily resized by your jeweler if so needed, if you do not have someone locally please ask me about possibly using my jeweler).
