My iPhone cases are made of two protective layers: a durable, tough, hard polycarbonate plastic on the outside and an inner silicone layer (silicone layer is for iPhones only) for shock absorption. The silicone layer creates a small "bumper" or "lip" around the front of your iPhone, which protects your screen when set face-down. Without this layer, you are at a much higher risk of scratching or cracking the glass screen.
These are not cheap, flimsy cases with printed vinyl or sticker type designs on the front. The design, which wraps around the entire case, is embedded into the case using a high-tech, professional printing process.
