The seahorse carving is of the very finest quality. It is fully carved, front and back, and is mounted with it's tail actually wrapping around the 18kt, kelp base. The seahorse is anchored to the broach by a heavy, 18kt post which penetrates it's body from the back. It took over 160 hours to handcarve the seahorse. The gem bubbles are all bezel set. The Australian opals, (in white), actually show a much greater display of color to the eye, but they are notoriously hard to photograph. There are certainly techniques which can be used. All of our photographs are single exposure, and unretouched, however. The pink tourmalines are from the famous Himalaya mine.
The broach is two and one quarter inches tall, and one and three quarter inches wide.
I am enchanted by seahorses. They are the jewels of Neptune. They speak to me of honeymoons in Bora Bora, or diving in the Carribean.
This broach comes in a powder grey, ultra-suede, designer box. Gift wrapping is also available.
