This wonderfully luxurious cowl is 100% handknit by me in extremely high quality baby alpaca yarn. I've knitted this in a gradient from dark to light- a warm fig color, then an almost lilac mix of fig and tan, tan, and cream. The yarn was spun to slowly morph into the gradient... SO lovely.
Perfect to keep you warm. This is a scrumptious alternative to a scarf! Due to the loosely knit texture of the cowl, you can even pull it down over your shoulders or up over your head like a snood and capelet. (Shown on a US size 8 mannequin)
One size fits all: 30 inches around by 18 inches long.
About this alpaca: This is very finely spun baby alpaca with high "loft". Translation: although this is super warm due to the insulation between the fine fiber and lots of space between them, it is light as a feather. Beautiful and soft- This cowl weighs in at a mere 4 ounces, but is SO extremely soft.
Handknits... they tend to be more expensive than commercially produced products.
Here's why:
1. Quality knitting takes time- each stitch is made by hand, and depending on the number of those stitches, can take hours. Commercially produced knits are made on a tightly controlled computerized machine in just minutes flat!
2. High quality yarns. Baby Alpaca is a luxurious material to work with and wear!
Why do I work with natural fibers?
Acrylics and other man made fibers are generally made from the by-products of oil refining. They are NOT renewable. They ARE flammable. I choose to wear naturally warm, naturally renewable fibers that are 100% better quality than those made by man. Wool, Alpaca, Merino, and Cashmere are shorn from the animal each year- no worries about the damage done to our planet during or because of that process! :)
This cowl IS NOT machine washable- care instructions will be included with your package.
Have an accessory of luxury to wear when you're cold! You'll thank yourself each day.
Thanks so much for looking!
