First, let's talk about the dragon's head, it started out as 1/2" square stock steel and came to life on the anvil under the hammer blows at a yellow/orange heat. Details were then added using hand held punches that I made.
(On this one I fixed two copper rivets for the eyes, this gives it a unique staring look)
After the head is completed, it's back to the fire to heat and form the hook with a small belly at the end so there is no sharp, pointy tip at the hook end. (all made with the hand hammer).
Last hammer blow on the dragon is my logo signature "Naz".
For the wings, I drew them and had them laser cut., braught them to an orange heat in the forge and hammered them all around to give them texture and match the hand forged dragon.
Next, I forged six smaller hooks and mig welded them to the wings from behind to keep everything clean. I then added to each a copper rivet that I hand hammered from behind. The rivets add extra strenght and are very decorative.
Time to join the dragon to it's wings. I used a large iron rivet and hand hammered it from behind followed by two spot welds, again from behind.
For cleaning, I use the wire brush followed by a light sand paper. This highlights the hammer marks.
For protection I brushed on two coats of Renaissance wax which is a high quality wax used in museums worldwide on armory, swords, precious metals, etc... .
This signed metal sculpture is a highly decorative and functional piece of art that has many useful purposes :key hooks, jewelry rack, etc...
Since all my dragons are hand forged one at a time, they each have their own personality and character, not one is the same. For this reason, they each have their own personal listing, this listing is for the forged dragon key/jewelry rack you see in the photos above.
Measurements are 9" high and 12" wide.
Included are 4decorative wood screws.
