The bag is made from a tan linen-cotton blend fabric and is entirely lined with a blue and white plaid homespun cotton fabric. It measures 10-inches wide by 15-inches long (when top is not folded over--it is about 11-inches when folded) by 3-inches deep. It has two bellows pockets with flaps on the front of the bag for easy stashing of bulkier finds or supplies, and 4 pockets of various sizes (including one with a flap) on the interior for stashing notebooks, pencils, a magnifying glass or other supplies. The bag has a navy blue woven cotton strap that is 34 inches in length for easy carrying across the body. The bag is designed with an easy fold over top for quick access to supplies inside--a bit of cotton strapping with a metal D-ring on the front provides some weight to the top when folded over so it lays flat.
The bag also comes fully outfitted with all the necessary explorer supplies including: a red bandanda, a set of 5 laminated nature identification cards (birds, bugs, wild flowers, butterflies, and mushrooms) and bound with a metal ring, 2 cotton drawstring bags stamped with animal images for collecting nature finds, a small green flashlight on a cord, a whistle on a cord, a small set of colored pencils for nature sketches, two small notebooks labeled "field sketches" and "field notes", a small net for capturing bugs or minnows, a plastic canister with a magnifying top and holes for examining and keeping bugs, a small magnifying glass, a small vintage green compass, and a tin box labeled "samples, specimens and curiosities" for collecting rocks, shells, and other natural treasures.
This is an original Beeper Bebe design and is one of a kind. I have road tested this bag design and its contents with children between the ages of 3-8 and it was loved and well used by all on camping trips, hikes, trips to the lake, and in the backyard. It is truly something that will delight and inspire a child and will have lasting interest for them.
