This piece was made last year for They Draw and Cook contest. The contest was about Christmas food and jellied carp is Polish Christmas Eve's supper traditional dish. The recipe is simple, the food - delicious but making it into fiber art was quite challenging. The combination of antique laces, silks, amber beads and my handwork makes it a really masterpiece (if I say so myself, of course) :)
It is constructed like a quilt but without any batting. Two layers of linen and cotton fabrics make it rigid enough but still allow for some drapery effect.
It may hang on the wall or lie flat on your table (then I would suggest keeping your red wine far away) - everywhere it will catch the eyes with no dubts.
It is also perfect idea for a wedding gift.
Size - 81 x 30 cms (with hanging sleeve)
Washable.
Mind you, that washing is a part of my process so all of my works are already prewashed. Some fraying is intentional and safe.
