The ceramic figure The Sleeping Lady of Malta was discovered within the underground temple of the Hypogeum of Hal Saflieni on the island of Malta. The neolithic site was carved from solid rock with flint tools in the period 4000-2500BC and consists of multiple chambers on 3 levels, . The Sleeping Lady was discovered in a votive pit within the largest chamber that had its walls washed with red ochre and pillars that look like the stone circles above ground

The figure is roughly 7cm x 12cm x 7cm, on a 4cm tall display base in solid oak. She is presented in a display box that includes a pamphlet about the origins of piece and the methods used to manufacture the replica.

All my figures are made from hand dug clay and fired adhering to ancient firing methods. With the addition of a wax patina they really look and feel like an ancient artefact. Open the section below the shop banner to discover more about my firing methods.

Each figure is unique because each has been individually hand modelled. They can vary in size from the original by a few millimetres due to varying amounts of temper and different clays that I use, and show subtle variations in modelling and sometimes colouring that is a natural result of the wood firing. As a result, the pictures above may show a figure that is incredibly similar to the one you will receive but not exactly the same. Please contact me if you need a photo showing current stock.

All packaging is carefully sourced to be natural and recycled, and then recyclable and biodegradable at your end, with the exception of just the external packaging tape.
