This is a fabulous statement necklace from Pauline Rader. The necklace has a double watch chain choker with a massive textured geometric pendant with a slight Egyptian influence. A wonderful example of her bold designs that were modern with elements from antiquity. Pauline Rader designed jewelry from 1962 to the mid 1980's. She had a love of the jewelry of antiquity, and her designs often featured classic Greek and Italian influences. Her pieces were often bold and imaginative. She designed for a select clientele and elite boutiqes, so her pieces are highly collectible and hard to find. This piece is from the 1970's or 1980's at my best estimate, although it could be older, given the hook closure.
The double watch chain choker is 12 inches long with 3 inches of chain for adjustment. It is 3/4 inches wide. The breast plate pendant is 8 inches long and 2 3/8 inches wide at the widest point.
This piece is in excellent condition. There is no wear to the gold plated metal. The metal has no damage or corrosion, scratches, scuffs, dents, or dings. The hook and chain closure is functional.
This is a great piece by a great designer, and of course, a rare piece. This bold statement piece is a wonderful example of fashion forward vintage that would be at home on today's New York Runways.
