Some of my masks are made from old sketches and drawings that have found near by old countryside castle where I am living which once belonged to Duke Jacob Kettlers ( 1610- 1681 ) lovely wife Louise Charlotte of Brandenburg.
Duke Jacob of Courland and Semigallia embodies the image of the” good and smart “ ruler. Yet , the continuation of his life is not a mere historical legend – the Kettlers blood must be running through the veins of more than one royal family of present-day Europe.
Making my masks I feel extraordinary friendships with nature and all non-human beings with which we share this wonderful place- Planet Earth. I believe them to be “all our relations”. Wasps may be natures oldest papier mache artists and architects. By chewing the bark from trees they create delicate, yet sturdy paper nests…
…but I love chewing : ) my masks from recycled paper materials it gives me a sence of being connected to the past and future
… because of the nature of papier mache the masks are light weight, comfortable to wear
… all masks are secured to the head by elastic band
