Here’s another of my wraps that came from nowhere to everywhere, to here. There is a bit of antique measuring tape in linen, fastened with tooled leather and brass eyelets, then hand stitched to the antique leather backing for added security; the tape’s metal end was incorporated into the jewelry, and adorned with stitched antique lace and a tiny mother of pearl button in dark grey/brown. One of my precious metal clay fine silver pieces has the word “sky” and a bird stamped onto the surface (on the back I’ve engraved the words “from the ground to the sky to the moon”), and this is joined to a bit of sterling that was cast from an antique jewelry finding. Then comes a length of antique brass book chain, fastened to a length of deerskin leather cord, which has a cathy daily sterling piece, and several smashed sterling beads. Next comes one of my precious metal clay fine silver word lengths, stamped with the words “giant leap”; this is fastened to a brass and sterling bead from india, and then a length of hand wired sterling and faceted pearl chain. Dangling from the end of an adjustable sterling length of chain is one of my brass compass charms. Total length is 37”.
