Please note~ all clam shells books will vary due to their organic nature. See the second photograph for more examples. Some shells are more white, some have a greenish color, some more aged by the elements, some large, some smaller, some even have beautiful barnacle shells attached... please keep these variations in mind when you purchase. If you'd like I can provide a photograph of your book before I package it up OR you can surrender and allow the perfect clam shell to be sent your way:)

Recently I was asked about my source for the clam shells.....
As with all my books and artistic projects (and this extends to all areas of my life as well) I take into account the affect my work has on nature and Earth. I have a deep respect for life. This shell (and any other I may work with) is never take alive. I find shells that are cast up on the beach that are often broken halves that I put together. The intent of this book is to inspire others to think of what is offered to them by Earth, nature, animal/plant life, etc.
Approx. 144 blank pages of white lightly specked 100% recycled text weight paper that was hand cut to reflect the natural contours of the clam shell
Hand stitched with bees waxed linen thread in a variation of Coptic binding
Measures approximately 3" x 3-3.5" x 2.5" (Please allow a range in size)
A beautiful journal for recording your stories of the sea and/or for displaying in your home as an art piece
