A beautiful locket from the Hayward Company, ca. 1930s-1940s. The locket is octagonal with a decorative face and plain verso. The face has a classic, understated design with a cast border separating an engraved interior section. This interior portion has etched shapes, vertical machining and an empty, central crest. The locket opens from the side to two oval photo compartments. One compartment retains the original picture ring and insert. The locket closes tightly. The top finding and bail are just as pretty as the locket, with nice details and etchings. The locket is not marked for gold content but I believe it is around 10K gold fill. The chain is 12K gold fill. There is tarnish inside the piece but exterior appearance and overall condition is excellent.
